Dr. Hilary Ginter, 产科 和 妇科 was a natural choice in med school. Her undergraduate training was in Psycho Biology, the study of the biology of the brain, 和, despite being fascinated by science, she realized quickly that her calling was in helping people, not research; that put her down the path to becoming an MD, 不是博士.

After completing her under graduate training at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, she took a couple of years off before starting medical school 和 spent that time working at a Women’s 健康 Clinic, providing contraceptive 和 women’s health education. “That’s really where my interest started. I was a young woman myself 和 had spent the last years at a women’s college, 和 was spending time learning about 和 then educating women about their bodies 和 their reproductive health. Learning about what our bodies can do was fascinating.”

在医学院的时候. Ginter thought that OB/GYN might be her preferred specialty, but also toyed with the idea of surgery because of the challenge. 最终, she chose OB/GYN because it combined her interest in women’s health 和 her desire to work on complex surgical cases. “It is the best of both worlds. I can focus on women’s health issues, deliver babies 和 perform big, complicated surgeries.”

Prior to coming to Calvert, Dr. Ginter worked in a local community hospital as an OB/GYN in western Maryl和. When her husb和 started working in Annapolis, Calvert became her location of choice to practice medicine. “A community hospital setting is all I have known for my entire career, 和 it’s what I love. I didn’t want to live or work in a big city, 和 Calvert felt like home.”

One of the things she likes most about working in OB/GYN 和 in Calvert is the diversity of the patient population 和 patient situations. “I love walking into the office 和 not knowing what or who I’m going to see. A great day for me is seeing a few women’s health patients in the morning, delivering a baby over lunch 和 doing a surgery in the afternoon. 作为妇产科医生, I get to work with young women just beginning to underst和 their bodies, adult women in the process of creating their own families, 和 older women who are adjusting to their lives after menopause. You can’t get more diverse than that!”
